Although this website covers our photography I have other interests that are worth mentioning. Woodworking is another hobby that I really love to spend some time doing. I have made tables, cabinets, coffee tables and cameras. It has paid off greatly combining woodworking and photography. I have built my 8x10 large format camera from scratch using only a film holder as a guide for the critical measurements. I am already thinking about making a 8x10 field camera that will be a little easier to haul around the woods.

I fix large electric motors for a living, which I have been doing since 1975. Some of the motors I have worked on come from water departments and electric companies. When I say large motors I mean LARGE, some weighing in at over 100,000 pounds. These motors run on voltage up to 13,800 volts.

This excellent electrical/mechanical knowledge has served my hobbies well. Coming up with a design to solve various problems while building my 8x10 has proved that having a good mechanical background is an asset.

I have also recently obtained a Private Pilots License to fly a plane.

In March of 2007 I went out and took my FCC tests to become a amateur radio operator. My call sign is K8PJM.
